Heavy rainfall
Very intense rain in a short time, where water runs off over the surface and collects in hollows, basements and underground car parks.
Unlike river flooding, heavy rainfall also hits plots far away from any river. What matters is how the ground slopes and where the water flows. Some authorities publish maps showing the expected water depth. A location in a runoff channel is no reason to walk away, but it is a reason to check the basement and backflow protection.

Common questions about it
Is heavy rainfall the same as flooding?
No. River flooding comes from rivers and lakes, heavy rainfall also hits plots far from water. That is why there are separate maps for each.
