Land register extract (Grundbuchauszug)

The official extract from the land register showing the owner, charges and mortgages of a plot.

It answers three questions: who owns the plot, what burdens it and who holds rights to it. In some countries only those who show a legitimate interest may obtain it. Before a purchase, it is usually obtained by the seller or the notary.
