Negotiation discount

The difference between the asking price and the purchase price actually achieved.

It exists because hardly any property is sold at the first price demanded. The negotiation discount is not a fixed figure, it depends on the property and the market. Buyers often confuse it with the safety margin, which is instead a fixed ten per cent.

Where it appears in the report

Common questions about it

Is the negotiation discount the same as the safety margin?

No. The safety margin is a fixed ten per cent, the negotiation discount only emerges from the actual negotiation.
